ABOUT
A long term therapeutic success of an implant-prosthetic rehabilitation is reachable with a sufficient amount of peri-implant bone volume suitably covered with high quality soft tissues. Clinical situations characterized by partial or complete absence of alveolar bone may represent a limit to the insertion of endosseous implants.
In order to overcome these clinical difficulties, several surgical procedures have been proposed over the years. The application of GBR for horizontal and vertical augmentation is well documented, with high rates of implant success and low complication rates. Achieving therapeutic success in the treatment of hard tissues often corresponds to the destruction of the muco-gingival architecture with displacement of the muco-gingival line in a crestal direction, loss of the vestibule and loss of keratinized tissue.
The purpose of this meeting is to understand the biological principles of bone regeneration and to learn the step by step surgical procedure of the GBR techniques; additionally, it will highlight the importance of achieving adequate keratinized tissue around implants to support functional and esthetic outcomes.
Each participant will have the opportunity to perform a horizontal and/or a vertical ridge augmentation on a pig jaw using a collagen and/or a d-PTFE membrane and porcine particulate bone graft.
Objective
To master the biological and clinical key factors of the bone augmentation procedure performed using GBR technique with a particular focus on the soft tissue management during and after the hard tissue treatment.
